This fine little museum interprets the culture and history of the Slate Belt area. Housed in a Landmark 1836 building, permanent displays include

  • A Slate Mining Exhibit
  • Antique Farm Implements
  • Victorian Home Furnishings and Clothing
  • Local Indian Artifacts
  • County Doctors' Tools

Throughout the season a number of special exhibits are also featured, and the several family events include a great Autumn Arts and Crafts Festival.There are no formal School Programs, but Museum staff will work with teachers to make a class visit a rewarding and memorable experience.


Hours: Open from Memorial Day to last Sunday in September, weekends 1 - 4pm. Call to confirm before visiting. Other hours for groups by appointment.
