This beautiful estate, the former home of Adolph Rosengarten, had its beginnings in the spring of 1913. Mr. Rosengarten hired a friend to design the main house, while a noted landscape architect, Thomas Sears, was called in to design a garden.

Today this outstanding property features thirty acres of gardens, lawns, meadows and wooded areas that are a pleasure to stroll through. The walking path winds along a small stream bordered with Native Wildflowers and through the Woodland Garden of Evergreens and Oriental Spruce. Visitors encounter a grove of flowering trees and then the Orchard Lawn, carpeted with masses of white, yellow and pink daffodils.

Beyond the Orchard is a production area once used to provide food and flowers for the main house. Here visitors can learn how annual flowers and vegetables can be grown in small gardens to create a dynamic display.

After passing through the Summer Perennial Garden the visitor arrives at the main house with its breathtaking Formal Garden. Finally, the path follows the gap in the Hemlock Hedge and down the hillside to the Meadow, with its breathtaking view of the pond and the flowers reflected on its surface.

Chanticleer is a great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Individuals and families can take a Self-Guided tour while groups will have a guide. Groups should have ten or more people.
