Visit one of New Jersey's leading institutions of culture and heritage. Occupying a ten acre site along the banks of the Spruce Run and Raritan River, this museum village consists of a small community built around a stone quarry and mill.

Among the buildings that have been restored are wagon sheds, a log cabin, a schoolhouse, a general store, blacksmith shop, stone crusher, and the Red Mill -- the main Museum building. Boasting a collection of nearly 40,000 pieces of important artifact, this is a fantastic place that returns visitors to the 18th and 19th centuries.

A family can spend an entire day exploring, relaxing, and enjoying the dynamic beauty of the place. Rolling lawns sitting above the river banks provide pleasant seating beneath the 150 foot high limestone cliffs. The Limestone Quarry is the site of many special events and educational programs, including several very interesting summer programs for children. Adult Groups, as well as families find the Clinton Museum to offer a perfect opportunity for a field trip.

Three School Group tours each encompass the entire Museum site. Community Life (elementary grades) explores home and family life during the late 1800's. 90 minutes long. Rural Industrial Life Tour (grades 3 - 12) evolves around the processes of work, machines, and natural energy. Two hours. Places to Live (pre-K - 2) is a great one-hour interactive tour exploring life and work in the 18th and 19th centuries.

In a Workshop Program called the Bunker Hill Schoolhouse Program, teachers and students act out living 19th century history in the atmosphere of an authentic one-room school. Additional Workshop Programs include Basket Making; Carding, Spinning & Weaving; and Old Fashioned Cane Fishing Pole Making Workshops.
