Located in Heckscher Park in Huntington Village, the Heckscher Museum has been described by the New York Times as "one of the primary small museums in the country with an international reputation."

Featuring a small but distinguished selection of works spanning 500 years of European and American art, the Museum's growing permanent collection includes works by Renaissance masters to the most recent contemporary artists. 19th and 20th century American landscapes highlight the 2,200-piece collection..

With an ongoing schedule of special exhibitions and regularly changing permanent installations, The Heckscher Museum offers a broad and balanced view of historical, modern, and contemporary art. Many works are of special significance to Long Island.

Individuals and families can participate in a diverse program of day and evening workshops, illustrated lectures, concerts, and other activities throughout the year, in conjunction with the permanent collection and each of the temporary exhibitions.

School Discovery: Serving more than 7,000 K-12 students from school districts throughout Long Island every year, The Heckscher Museum of Art's School Discovery Programs draw upon the Museum's Permanent Collection and special exhibitions to provide a unique educational resource for schools and organizations.

The programs are designed to foster a love and understanding of art and an appreciation for the ties between art and everyday experiences. These dynamic programs are suited for groups and students of all grade and ability levels, from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and meet all New York State Learning Standards for the Arts.
