Though a bit of a drive from New York City, the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome offers a unique and exciting treat for individuals and groups alike: Air Shows featuring airplanes of the early 1900's.

See biplanes such as a 1917 Sopwith Camel, a 1915 Nieuport 11, a 1911 Bleriot XI and many others, including a 1917 Fokker Triplane "strut their stuff" in the air. These machines are really something. They are beautiful and romantic and amazing to watch. Air Shows last 2 hours, including 30 minutes of pre-show activity with audience participation. Shows are on weekends, with 2 different shows -- one Saturday and one Sunday. Shows may change from year to year.

Before or after the show visitors can enjoy the new Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum which displays six aircraft, including a 1929 American Eagle, a 1918 Spad XIII, a 1909 Rinek-Voisin -- one of the oldest aircraft in the country, and a luxurious 1937 Fairchild 24H. Also featured are various aviation artifacts and memorabilia, as well as old engines, cars, motorcycles and other great objects from the past.

And no visit is complete without a 15 minute Barnstorming Ride in a 1929 New Standard. Flying in an airliner is almost like sitting at home, watching tv. Flying in an open cockpit biplane leaves no doubt that you are in the air!

Group Tours are offered on weekdays, and School Groups can have a pretty cool program developed for them. Tours are suitable for all ages.
