This popular sanctuary in Westchester County is a place of beauty to be enjoyed by individuals, families, and organized groups.

A reconstructed 200 year old building serves as a Museum and Nature Center, with a central room used as an auditorium and a second story balcony containing exhibits of the flora and fauna of Westchester.

Seven miles of trails lead visitors past the many rocky cliffs and 3 lakes contained within the sanctuary. It is home to an abundance of wildlife, many species of trees and offers much to the nature lover and the student.

Throughout the year the Sanctuary offers many fun and educational programs for families, all involving nature- or wildlife-related subjects, as well as seasonal activities.

Westmoreland offers a great variety of hands-on programs to School Groups, including bird banding with live showings of native birds, insects, and pond ecology, wildlife management, tree identification, candle making, bluebird house building, mammals and predator relationship.

There are programs suitable for nursery school through adult, and all of them are exciting and educational. Some are seasonal and all are popular, so groups should reserve well in advance. For instance, a teacher interested in a program that takes place only in the fall should make reservations in the preceding spring.

In-School Programs are also available, covering many of the same subjects. Cost varies with distance of school. Call for details.
